PYC Celebrated the incoming New Year 2023 in a stylist way! The event was sold out with a wailist. Members were able to invite guests to join in celebrating the arrival of 2023! The evening was an elegant atmosphere with a casual agenda. Topped off by a midnight toast while the Buz Whitely Big Band whisks away 2022!
Members were offered to stay on their boats and join in a potluck brunch on New Year's Day.
Our creative and beautiful hostesses were Mary Fitz and Lena Hunt. Thank you ladies for creating a wonderful adventure into the New Year 2023!

On June 5 the PYC Junior Sailing held it's new RS Tera boat naming ceremony at 11am on E dock and the whole club was invited to attend. We had the honor of King Neptune and his queen holding court over the naming process. The seven boats named were 1 Jambo Jr. (Jean Hart), 2 Fly Boy 747 (Eric Peterson), 3 SV Floyd, 4 SV Morton, 5 SV Henderson, 6 SV Roberts and 7 SV Moyer. Immediately following the naming was a memorial for Jean Hart.

The RS Teras have arrived! Steve and Barb Roberts drove a box truck to Portland to pick up the new boats and deliver back to PYC, arriving at 3pm on Saturday, Nov. 6. Intrepid sailors, George and Judee Daniels, Laurie and George Sarver, Nate Thomas, Mark Walters, Tom and Patty Henderson, and sailing instructor Trevor Royset Jones helped unload the boats.
In the 22 years offering junior sailing to the community, we have taught well over 1500 kids the basics of sailing. Many of these kids have gone on to sail on several high school sailing teams and college teams across the country.
This was also an historical moment. Steve Roberts helped deliver the DeWitt dinghies from San Francisco to PYC just over 20 years ago.
Come down to the club to check out the new boats Hope you are excited as we are... the boats are beautiful, well set up and will take this program into the next two decades!

PYC honors the 2023-24 term Officers and Trustees.
Commemorating Commodore Nick Valladarez's new role as our 64th Commodore, Walt Greene created this AI poem:
Nick Valladarez, our new Commodore,
A smart and great listener, we adore.
With ideas vast and knowledge sound,
Our club's future he will astound.
A leader with vision and passion so true,
Poulsbo Yacht Club, under his guidance, will renew.
So let's raise our sails and follow him through,
Fair winds and smooth seas, our journey anew.

The weather was perfect, the Trivia Contest was exciting (oh, that was the theme from Dallas - we probably should have know that one!) and the PYC camaraderie was awesome. First Mates on the Water
5 Skippers (Bill Zehner (Infinity Bound), Bill Whiteley (Legacy), Earl Hunt (Moon Shadow), Denny Johnson (Andiamo), Terry Dolan ( Chatham)
23 First Mates
Program Focus- Emergency on the Water Summary
We started in the Clubhouse, and we went over how to call the Coast Guard and using your VHF radio. Knowing your location and the procedures for emergencies.
Parking lot- first mates hands on practice using a fire extinguisher
On the water boat exercises: Each Captain took their group out on the water to practice Man Overboard, controlling the boat, touch and go docking and Navigation.
Lunch was offered after the course at $25 per person this was catered by Ambrosia. The fee covered the cost of the Skippers lunch.
We are planning on emailing the group for feedback and going forward if this is a program that PYC would like to repeat or build on, it would be a good one to bring back in the Spring.
