Looking for a relaxed way to kick off your summer evenings? Join fellow PYC sailors every Thursday afternoon for an easy, social sail on Liberty Bay—and maybe beyond.
⛵ Launch around 3:30 PM (or whenever you’re ready)
🌬️ Sail at your own pace for a few hours 👥 Bring crew—or we’ll help match willing power-boaters with a host sailboat Afterward, stick around for BYOB on the sail deck, sea stories, and one of those sunsets that reminds us why we’re here. No RSVP required. Show up when you can, spread the word, and let’s make this a weekly tradition.

Gig Harbor’s Maritime History: Join us for our cruise to Gig Harbor and explore the maritime history along the waterfront. We will have a guided walking tour and there are options to visit the Harbor History Museum, the Skansie Netshed, and potentially even the Eddon Boatyard. Location: Club Events will be held at Arabella’s Landing (3323 Harborview Dr, Gig Harbor) in their Netshed. Cruise Cost per person: $35. Cancellation Reimbursement Policy: All cruise budgets are set depending on registration. The October 2026 WIC Luncheon will be held at the Port Orchard Yacht Club. Join us for their "Autumn Harvest" theme featuring the musical talent of the "Jet Cities Chorus". (https://jetcities.org) The Chorus, founded in 1962 and whose members originate from the Seattle/Tacoma Metropolitan area, sing four-part cappella harmony songs from every era and style.
Menu: Pork Tenderloin and Pears with Balsamic Onions, Seasonal Veggies, Sourdough Rolls, and Artisanal Cookie Medley.
Cost is $30. Luncheon attire of slacks or dresses. Car pools will be arranged. 🍁 Register HERE by end of the day Tuesday, September 29.

START and END TIMES MAY VARY BY ACTIVITY. PLEASE CONTACT ROBBIE LARSON for the month you are interested in. Are you a woman who likes to walk with friends? If so, you may want to join our monthly Women Out Walking activity. We usually plan a walk for the 3rd Tuesday of each month, September through June. Usually 10-15 members join our walk, and friends are welcome to join also. Patti Cuthill faithfully planned our walks for years, but starting last year, instead of all of the planning burden on one person, we now pair up to plan walks and lunch following the walk. We usually meet up at PYC to carpool to whatever trailhead is planned for the month. This is a great opportunity to enjoy nature (and lunch!!) in the companionship of other members. Due to the fact that plans sometimes change at the last minute due to weather conditions or other circumstances, we do not include the details about our walks on the PYC Calendar. Instead, we maintain an email distribution list of people who are interested in knowing the plan for the month, then we track RSVP’s and keep respondents up to date on any changes. IF YOU WANT TO BE ADDED TO THE LIST, please email Robbie Larson at Robbie.larson.2007@gmail.com. Likewise, if you are currently on the list and want to be removed, please let Robbie know (there are currently 55 women on the list). We are currently planning this year’s walks so this is an excellent time to join the group, find a partner, and plan a walk! |

Summary:
The Blue Schools Initiative connects students and their communities with the maritime world, building a sense of belonging and inspiring care for our waters as well as opening doors to maritime careers.
Built on decades of effective public-private partnerships with schools and post-secondary institutions, the Blue Schools Initiative now encompasses education, community, and industry working together to solve problems together.
Katie will share the design of the Blue Schools Initiative, how & where it is launched, and program progress to date. There is a nationwide appetite for this blueprint and opportunities for us to be involved.
Katie Oman bio -(I can ask for a shorter one, but this will work well for the intro):
Katie Oman is the Chief Operating Officer of Northwest Maritime, a nonprofit dedicated to engaging and educating people of all generations in traditional and contemporary maritime life through a spirit of adventure and discovery. She oversees the organization’s operations and works across its education, workforce development, community, and maritime programs. Before joining Northwest Maritime, she spent two decades as a consultant to nonprofit cultural organizations, helping mission-driven institutions with business planning, capital projects, and organizational strategy. She holds a degree in Architecture from Princeton University and a master’s in Public History and Cultural Heritage at Trinity College Dublin. A lifelong sailor, Katie grew up sailing on the East Coast and has raced to Bermuda, crossed the Atlantic, and worked aboard traditional schooners. She is passionate about the power of hands-on experiences, maritime traditions, and time on the water to build confidence, community, and connection to place.

With more than 60 veterans among our membership, representing generations of military service, this is a wonderful opportunity for PYC to come together as a club, honor those who have served, and show our support for the veterans in our community. Whether you are a veteran, active-duty service member, family member, or simply want to show your support, we encourage you to join the PYC contingent and march with us. If so, you may want to join our monthly Women Out Walking activity. We usually plan a walk for the 3rd Tuesday of each month, September through June. Usually 10-15 members join our walk, and friends are welcome to join also. Patti Cuthill faithfully planned our walks for years, but starting last year, instead of all of the planning burden on one person, we now pair up to plan walks and lunch following the walk. We usually meet up at PYC to carpool to whatever trailhead is planned for the month. This is a great opportunity to enjoy nature (and lunch!!) in the companionship of other members. Due to the fact that plans sometimes change at the last minute due to weather conditions or other circumstances, we do not include the details about our walks on the PYC Calendar. Instead, we maintain an email distribution list of people who are interested in knowing the plan for the month, then we track RSVP’s and keep respondents up to date on any changes. IF YOU WANT TO BE ADDED TO THE LIST, please email Robbie Larson at Robbie.larson.2007@gmail.com. Likewise, if you are currently on the list and want to be removed, please let Robbie know (there are currently 55 women on the list). We quickly address business matters followed by applied radio and maritime technology topics. Each meeting usually focuses on a topic voted on at the previous meeting, sometimes in a fireside chat format, other times as a hands on session.
