A special Boat Program is being sponsored by Chase Morgan and John Bukowsky on Wednesday October 21 from 6 to 8 PM. Bar opens at 6 and the program will be from 7 to 8. Topic: The Blue Schools Initiative Speaker: Katie Oman, Chief Operating Officer and lifelong sailor Summary: The Blue Schools Initiative connects students and their communities with the maritime world, building a sense of belonging and inspiring care for our waters as well as opening doors to maritime careers. Built on decades of effective public-private partnerships with schools and post-secondary institutions, the Blue Schools Initiative now encompasses education, community, and industry working together to solve problems together. Katie will share the design of the Blue Schools Initiative, how & where it is launched, and program progress to date. There is a nationwide appetite for this blueprint and opportunities for us to be involved. Katie Oman bio: Katie Oman is the Chief Operating Officer of Northwest Maritime, a nonprofit dedicated to engaging and educating people of all generations in traditional and contemporary maritime life through a spirit of adventure and discovery. She oversees the organizationās operations and works across its education, workforce development, community, and maritime programs. Before joining Northwest Maritime, she spent two decades as a consultant to nonprofit cultural organizations, helping mission-driven institutions with business planning, capital projects, and organizational strategy. She holds a degree in Architecture from Princeton University and a masterās in Public History and Cultural Heritage at Trinity College Dublin. A lifelong sailor, Katie grew up sailing on the East Coast and has raced to Bermuda, crossed the Atlantic, and worked aboard traditional schooners. She is passionate about the power of hands-on experiences, maritime traditions, and time on the water to build confidence, community, and connection to place.

Steak Fry Friday October 9, 6:00 - 8:00 PM Come and join your PYC family at the BBQ. As you flip your dinner of choice, discuss fall and winter boat projects, or gloat that you don't have a boat and don't have projects to do!. The October 2026 WIC Luncheon will be held at the Port Orchard Yacht Club. Join us for their "Autumn Harvest" theme featuring the musical talent of the "Jet Cities Chorus". (https://jetcities.org) The Chorus, founded in 1962 and whose members originate from the Seattle/Tacoma Metropolitan area, sing four-part cappella harmony songs from every era and style. Menu: Pork Tenderloin and Pears with Balsamic Onions, Seasonal Veggies, Sourdough Rolls, and Artisanal Cookie Medley.

Dinghy Dock Demolition DerbyCurrent plan is to float the old docks over to the shore at high tide the evening of September 25, and secure them there. The morning of September 26 we will have a festival of destruction to put the remnants into a large dumpster stationed near the shore. Do not wear your fancy dress clothes to this event! We will get to see plenty of marine life clinging to the plastic under the floatation foam and the well-aged wood also has acquired some extra coatings. Many hands should make this process proceed apace, and we will be able to enjoy a more sightly E dock. To join the Saturday work party, Sign up. And thank you!
